The honest answers
Isn't this just a loofah?
Opposite, in the two ways that matter. A loofah is a dense puff that traps water and dead skin and never dries — which is why dermatologists say to bin it every two months, and why almost nobody does. FuroSilk is a flat open weave: it sheds water, dries in a couple of hours, and unfolds to 40 inches so you can actually reach your own back. A puff can't do either.
Will it hurt? I've heard these are brutal.
You've heard right about the ones sold without instructions. Used dry and unfolded, a Japanese towel is genuinely harsh. Used the way it's meant to be — folded twice, loaded with body wash, light pressure — it's firm, not painful. Every box has a gentle weave alongside the firm one and a card that shows you the fold. How often should I use it?

Can I use it on my face?
Don't. This is built for body skin — arms, legs, back, shoulders, chest. Facial skin is far thinner and needs something much gentler. Same goes for broken skin, sunburn, fresh tattoos or an active infection.
